Sri Guru Teg Bahadur College of Education, Khankot, Amritsar was established to provide quality education so as to produce professional humane teachers. It was established keeping in view the fact that education is a profession for which intensive preparation is necessary. We endeavor to give the students holistic experiences so that they are equipped with knowledge skills and values when they are educated.
Sri Guru Teg Bahadur College of Education came into being in the village Khankot on September 2006 with the efforts of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Public School Society (Regd.). This society had established Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Public School in Khankot village in the year 1974 to give education to the village children for the rural upliftment. After the success of the School the society came up with the noble idea of establishing the college of education for the rural community. This college was founded by Late Dr. Diljit Singh Pannun, a highly distinguished personality, popular columnist, administrator and diplomat of high standard. After his demise his son Dr. Gurbilas P Singh Pannu took the charge of the college as its Managing Director. It is a matter of great pride for the institution that the distinguished personalities like S. Darshan Singh (Director Education), S. Baljit Singh Sukarchakia (member Finance and Planning), Mrs. Deep Pannu, S. Dalbir Singh Pannu, S. Jagdish Singh, S. D.S. Bajwa, S. Lakhwinder Singh, Dr. Pritam Singh are the honoured members of Managing Committee. From the session 2007-08 we have been enjoying a good reputation, comparable to any established institution in the city, Amritsar. The institution is far from the city dust and din and is situated in the village Khankot itself. It is decorated with the lush green lawns and spread over the area of 10 acres. The institution has excellent infrastructure conducive to impart quality teacher education. The laboratories are adequately equipped and the classrooms are spacious. It has well equipped Psychology, Science/Math, Language/Technology, Computer Labs and S.ST./Economics Room. There is art room for the creative activities of the students, common room for girls and physical education room. It has an enriched library with the internet facilities and the latest books, journals, magazines etc. There is also a seminar hall with all the latest equipment. There is also a provision for hostel for boys and girls separately. The primary objective of the college is to provide trained and dedicated teachers who can meet the challenges and needs of the present society. To attain this objective, the college has well qualified and experienced faculty who excel both in teaching and administrative areas. The management has left no stone unturned to provide the requisite facilities to the college and the faculty. The constant encouragement and the support from the management boost the motivation of the faculty and help them to utilize their potentialities positively. It is, therefore not appropriate to remarks that with God’s grace we have performed magnificently and achieve success in a very short span of time.
